Working in the TCD offices isn’t for the faint of heart! This is a busy place, and because our services are expanding year on year, the office team have to learn how to juggle and plate-spin from day 1.
Between them they also man our out of hours operation, enabling us to continue our professional and knowledgeable service 365 days a year – 24 hours a day.
They’re a fantastic crowd and Jane and I know just how lucky we are to have them!
Steve Piper M.D.
Steve and Jane Piper founded The Care Division in 2000 as a sub-division of a larger commercial organisation. Over the years the care business became increasingly dominant and in March 2006 the company was re-launched as a stand-alone operation. The Learning Disability sector has always been at the core of their operations, and with the more recent development of the Home Care sector Steve and Jane are looking forward to a very busy and exciting future with a strong team of Managers and support staff around them.
Jo has been with the company since April 2006 and has seen the company through three phases of development with huge success. Jo’s 8 years experience of specialist support services and CSCI regulations stands her in good stead. She always aims for maximum effort and dedication from all departments to ensure that a smooth and excellent service is offered at all times.
Joining the team in Oct 2007 Jessica has over 10 years experience in the care sector including Management of a variety of services for Adults with Learning Disabilities and area lead for ARC, the national organisation for Learning Disability providers. As Registered Manager for our Homecare division, Jessica will oversee our Elderly Care provision, and with the move towards Individual Budgets and Direct Payments is keen to continue the development of our Homecare Support for those with Learning Disabilities.
Sam has a wealth of accountancy experience to draw on and has helped to develop many of the complex systems that now operate throughout the organisation, ensuring a speedy and effective pay and bill service to both clients and support workers.
As the Southampton Care Manager, Denise has been the driving force behind the rapidly developing Southampton Office, recruiting a range of fantastic carers to support her expanding client base. She previously worked for Social Services for 12 years as a Recruitment Manager for the HR Team but now finds she gets most enjoyment from providing a level of service that always exceeds expectations.
Warren’s background has been forged in the Learning Disability sector. He spent 2 years working for MENCAP as a Support Worker within supported living before becoming a senior support officer. He then made the move into an office based role where he was responsible for assessing new contracts and sourcing candidates to suit the clients specific requirements. Warren sees The Care Division as his opportunity to develop a truly rounded service for his clients, including real support for relatives as well as the clients themselves, with a focus on sourcing and advocating the right opportunities and support services for each of his service users.
As the longest standing member of our staff team - she arrived when we did, 8 years ago! - Nicky is in charge of the day to day running of the Bournemouth Care desk and is responsible for the recruitment and selection of our field workers, ensuring that our clients are catered for with exceptional service. She holds a degree in Human Resource Management and has been instrumental throughout the organisation’s changes and developments over the years. Her commitment and dedication has been invaluable to the company.
Having returned from maternity leave in the autumn of 2008, Sharon now divides her time between looking after young George, providing Quality Assurance and Compliance checks on our services to our Clients, and supporting our Field Care Supervisors in their roles. Having originally helped us to set up the Domcare business, she is ideally suited to help us maintain our standards at the highest level.
With a total of 13 years working in the care sector, Kelly's last role before joining us in 2006 was as a senior support worker for a Neuro Care Centre, where she developed a wealth of knowledge in the disability field and in particular with regard to Acquired Brain Injuries. She therefore has a huge empathy both for our clients and our carers and goes to extremes to provide everyone with the support they deserve in her day to day co-ordination of the busy domiciliary care desk.
As our Senior Care Co-ordinator, Becky works with the Bournemouth and Southampton teams to help ensure that our Support Workers are receiving the volume of work that they want and that our clients are receiving the continuity of care that they need, along with a quick, efficient and friendly service. She joined the Bournemouth office in early 2006, having previously worked as an events organiser, catering for up to 1000 people at one time. Becky brings with her not only a bubbly personality but excellent organisational skills.
After moving from Worthing in 2007, where she had spent 17 years working for the local district council, Marion has brought her office and diplomatic attributes to bear on her co-ordinator’s role. As one of our main points of contact for both clients and staff, she has gone to great lengths to build relationships based on trust and openness. She very much enjoys her work and is looking forward to a long and rewarding career with the company.
Abi joined The Care Division in July 08 to assist with the co-ordination of the Southampton team and the growing 1:1 support provision. She joined after two years in a similar role and brings with her some excellent customer service skills and a warm and friendly personality as well as a natural flare for organisation. Working closely with Becky, Abi has been successfully introduced to our wide range of clients and is determined to ensure that all clients’ needs are met and relationships stay strong.
Tailor made for this role, Helen has an extensive background in care having worked in Physiotherapy for 10 years, mostly in the Neurological Department, and brings with her experience of head and spinal injuries, Multiple Sclerosis and a range of learning disabilities. Having worked in hydrotherapy and sensory rooms, as well as an activities co-ordinator, Helen is committed to creating Person Centred Plans that work for and extend each individual.
Collie has worked in a senior role in a variety of care settings including residential units, supported living and community settings with adults. Her vast experience has led her to working as an employment officer, placing and supporting individuals with a learning disability in employment. Collie has also worked as an NVQ assessor for a local company specialising in training within health and social care and through this she has gained many skills to assist her in her current role with The Care Division. Collie will be working alongside the office to lead a team of carers in the community and ensure that our standards of care are maintained to an exceptional level.
Brenda is an Independent Training Consultant working with The Care Division to deliver all mandatory training and to facilitate the Continued Professional Development of the employees. Brenda’s Background is in healthcare and is an RGN and also a trained Pharmacy Dispenser. She works closely with the office to develop new courses in the specialist areas of care that we provide and has further developed our Induction to take account of the change from LADAF to LDQ.
Sue works for us via an independent company to deliver NVQ training into Healthcare Settings for all our staff. Sue has been an NVQ assessor for many years and has previously owned her own company. She helps us to deliver NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 to any of our staff that are keen to further develop their skills within the care sector.
With a dramatic increase in our activity over the last year Sian was a very welcome addition to the team when she joined us in late 2007. Her assistance has helped speed up our recruitment and admin processes and her bright personality helps give the right first impression every time. Sian came to the Care Division fresh from University with a degree in Journalism, Film and Media studies.
Helping our receptionist Sian with the day to day administration of our offices, Ed started with the Care Division in July 08 following the increased workload of the busy offices. Recently finishing a degree in graphic design, Ed came to The Care Division wanting to learn the basics of running a busy office, from customer services to all aspects of administration. Ed’s fresh ideas have been very welcome as has his bright personality.
Diana is a current AAT student (Association of Accounting Technicians) at Bournemouth and Poole College and has a strong background in Finance & management. Diana came to England 2 years ago to study accountancy as she has a strong passion for figures. Prior to working in this field Diana was a manager of a firm in her home town Riga in Latvia where she was involved in writing business education programmes. Her natural efficiency and keen eye for detail is reducing discrepancies and ensures that a smooth transition is in place from timesheet to invoice. We couldn’t do without her!
