We are proud to announce that we have been selected by Poole Borough Council as one of only 6 approved suppliers of Domcare/Supported Living services to people with a Learning Disability in the area. The news came through on Feb 17th and followed an intensive selection process that involved a huge list of prospective suppliers being whittled down over the last 6 month period!
Operations manager, Helen Spencer confirmed that the new contract will commence in early March and added, "We had high hopes that we would be awarded this contract and have spent a great deal of time making sure that our services and personnel are in place to be able to support the Borough from Day 1. Our preparations have included the appointment of another specialist LD Field Care Supervisor to compliment the rest of our team, and we are now - all systems go!"

We are delighted to announce that our Southampton office has now received a fantastic 2 star CSCI report for our Learning Disability Homecare service.
With no recommendations at all, the inspector highlighted a number of areas for special praise, including our overall Person Centred Planning process and the detailed interest that Warren and Jo take in each of our clients well-being.
A full copy of the report will be available very shortly, and we'll post it on the website as soon as it becomes available.

October 6th 2008 is the long awaited date that Helen Spencer joins TCD as our new Operations Manager.
Responsible for overseeing the various different departments and for making sure that their work dove-tails together in seem-less harmony (she has a little work to do!), Helen joins us with 19 years of care experience under her belt!
The last 12 of these have seen her working at the Borough of Poole, where she made her way up through the ranks, to the position of Registered Manager for Supported Living, looking after 38 tenants with Learning Disabilities and employing a team of 54 staff.
Our own services have been adapted over the past two years, to cater for the transition of many of our client's services from Care Home to Independent Living environments. This move towards a Domiciliary service is one that TCD is well equipped to support, (see our latest CSCI report), and one that Helen is looking forward to developing and expanding in the months ahead.

With our ever growing team of Support Workers and Personal Assistants, our current training set up is becoming increasingly stretched, with 2 Full Induction programmes a month running, alongside numerous half and one day courses.
So the next few months will see TCD employing a further trainer to work alongside Brenda Cook to help us establish ourselves as a registered Learning Disability NVQ Assesment Centre, and allowing us to extend our services to outside organisations. Watch this space.

The success of our new Disability Services Database website and the immediate demand from outside of our Dorset and Hampshire area, has led us to launch DotComUnity on a Nationwide scale.
Linking up with BizGen Ltd, who developed the site for The Care Division, the new company which will trade as DotComUnity Ltd, will be splitting the country into territories and developing the database in bite-size chunks over the next 2 years, starting with Devon and Cornwall. Exciting times!
