What is Web Accessibility
The World Wide Web Consortium has the following definition.
"Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits others, including older people with changing abilities due to aging."
Increasingly, it also includes the ability of a web site to render itself consistently across different browsers and successfully across various media. For more information on web accessibility go to the Web Accessibility Initiative pages at www.w3.org/WAI.
Our Validation and Accessibility Status
We are working towards a fully accessible web site, but this is an ongoing process and we are constantly seeking to improve. However, at this time, we are pleased to confirm the following status on all pages:
At this time the W3C have yet to finalise their paper on WCAG 2.1. However, we have tested our site using the ATRC Web Accessibility Checker and are pleased to confirm that we have a Level 2 Conditional Pass against the proposed WCAG 2.1 proposals.
Cross Browser Media Support
It is recommended that to get the most out of the Internet and to ensure that websites developed in the latest technology are viewable, you upgrade your browser (usually free) to the latest version. This website renders consistently across the following browsers.
Internet Explorer 7 (PC), Firefox 3 (PC), Opera 9.5 (PC), Safari 3 (Mac), Safari 3 (PC).
It has been developed in and optimised for Firefox 3 (PC).
It works succesfully in older browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 but may not render as smoothly.
