Responsible to  Domiciliary Care Manager

Purpose of position

  • Under the guidance of the Domiciliary Care Manager to take specific responsibility for the management of the Domiciliary Care Team
  • To establish a caring environment for service users through high standards of professional practice and to promote dignity, respect, choice, and self esteem for each individual
  • To achieve this, ensure that each service user receives care appropriate to their individual needs
  • To ensure that the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care agencies and that CQC regulations are adhered too

Principal Responsibilities

  1. To manage referrals that are taken from local authorities and/or the private sector and to manage the subsequent assessments of individual care needs
  2. To assist in the planning and implementing of care packages for individual service users
  3. To manage and delegate the allocation of support workers to specific service users in line with their individual needs and the carer’s experience/expertise
  4. To ensure that all the Community Support Workers who work with new referrals are fully briefed to enable them to carry out their role effectively
  5. In conjunction with the Domiciliary Care Manager to carry out assessments on prospective service users
  6. To participate in staff training/development when this is deemed appropriate
  7. To take responsibility for confirming the timesheets of Community Support Workers on Coldharbour and passing them through to payroll
  8. To promote service user’s rights and to ensure that they are afforded meaningful participation in there life

Person Specification

  • To have had some experience of co-ordinating staff to meet client shortages and to have had previous responsibilities for supervision of staff
  • Must have good computer skills

  • Good Communicator
  • Have an understanding of a needs-led outcomes based service
  • Committed to quality care and services provision
